bed & breakfast
Bed & Breakfast Sint Antoniusbank in the eponymous village near Maastricht, has 3 rooms. All three of them are having a wallpaper from my collection on the wall. There is a St Jan room, a Timmerfabriek room and a poppy seeds room. On top of that I was asked to make pillows matching the rooms and wallpapers. Visit the website B&B Sint Antoniusbank.
My selling point in Düsseldorf, Privat 215, a small jewelry with store (who sells my bags for years already) and her neighbor, Rothbild, an illustrator with shop stacked an extra shopping window in the Ackerstrasse (nr 215) full with poufes, pillows, cuddly animals, postcards and of course bags and accessories made by me. If you go to Düsseldorf take a look for yourself. Nice little authentic shops.
ode to my father
The 'Maastricht in 10 patterns' project is an ode to my father, artist Peter Bertus († 2-4-2018). He worked on his project 'Maastricht in 100 etchings' since 1992. He loved his birth city very much and I inherited this love. I start drawing a pattern (with a fineliner) in my sketchbook, without rulers or sketching. Then I color them with markers. After that I make a scan and work on them digitally to make a repeat pattern that can be applied on fabrics and wallpaper. I use the fabrics in my bags and accessories. The project is still in progress. Go to the Maastricht Collection in the webshop.
space & material
Naomi and Audrey owners of Space & Material (creative workshops in Maastricht and region) visited my studio for Open Door Conversations. They visit local artists and designers for a conversation about their work, what moves them to make and create, and do what they do, day after day.
About half a year ago a company from Japan contacted Olivia on instagram. The stylo pen exists 40 years this year! (the one she always uses to draw her patterns). A good reason for a special website with little stories from users all over the world. They asked her to answer some questions about the pen.
