ode to my father
The ‘Maastricht in 10 patterns’ project is an ode to my father, artist Peter Bertus (died 2-4-2018). He worked on his project ‘Maastricht in 100 etchings’ since 1992. He loved his birth town very much and I inherited this love. I chose buildings and bridges who are having a special meaning to me. Like the Bonnefanten museum. In the museumshop they are selling my bags and cuddly toys for ±15 years already. That makes me very proud. I start drawing a pattern (with a fineliner) in my sketchbook, without rulers or sketching. Then I color them with markers. After that I make a scan and work on them digitally to make a repeat pattern that can be applied on fabrics and wallpaper. I use the fabrics in my bags and accessories. I’m still working on this project. A few of them can be ordered as wallpaper already. Like the Bonnefanten museum, Timmerfabriek/Lumière and High Bridge.
Next to the fabric designs and postcards the collection is expanded with wallpaper. The wallpaper on the photo above is the Timmerfabriek in Maastricht. Do you have questions about the possibilities don’t hesitate to contact Olivia. In the webshop you will find wallpaper samples. More will follow.
My selling point in Düsseldorf, Privat 215, a small jewelry with store (who sells my bags for years already) and her neighbor, Rothbild, an illustrator with shop stacked an extra shopping window in the Ackerstrasse (nr 215) full with poufes, pillows, cuddly animals, postcards and of course bags and accessories made by me. If you go to Düsseldorf take a look for yourself. Nice little authentic shops.

Together with a group of designers I organized the first edition (November 2019) of MADE Maastricht . A showcase for designers and makers from Maastricht. It was a big success and a great experience. MADE Maastricht #2 30 October – 1 November 2020!
About half a year ago a company from Japan contacted Olivia on instagram. The stylo pen exists 40 years this year! (the one she always uses to draw her patterns). A good reason for a special website with little stories from users all over the world. They asked her to answer some questions about the pen.
Is a wall to much for you? But do you like a pattern in your house? Then the pillows are ideal. Also for mixing and matching. The pillowcases are made of a beautiful strong cotton fabric and printed with one of my hand drawn patterns.
design your own bag
Do you know you can design your own bag together with me? When you visit the studio you can chose the bag model, the tarpaulin color, the lining fabric and the color of the leather. For the same price. If you live further away it is also possible. Contact Olivia for more information.
